Plan B - The Band
Pat Toepfer
Music has always been a passion for Pat. As a little kid, many a night was spent in the attic on 22nd street listing to Elton John, Peter Frampton and Pink Floyd. In his early teens the biggest musical influence was his older brother(s) Mark and Phil's record collection. Pat played the records WAY more than his brothers did... Journey, Kansas, SuperTramp, KISS, Foreigner and Boston. When Pat finally started to buy his own music in high school, it was Scorpions, Van Halen, Motley Crue and Judas Priest, ....In his 20's his tastes refined to include Metallica, Queensryche, and Alice in Chains. Today its GreenDay, 3 Doors Down, and NickelBack. Pat started playing guitar at a very young age and wrote his first song at age 11. He has played with many bands, but Plan B is by far his favorite!. He has just as much fun practicing as he does performing. Pat is supported by His wife Jennyfer, son Owen, daughter Ashtyn and dog.... Marshall. Without them, none of this would be possible! Keep it Real!
Jeff D. Durall
Jeff is the youngest son born to Jake and Fritz Durall back in 1966 and has one
older brother named Bill. As a child, Jeff always
took a liking to music playing different instruments such as the piano and
the guitar. Once he got a little older, beer, cars and girls took over
his free time and he discovered those three things were pretty damn fun
and pretty much in that order. Years went by and he moved away
from Hays to attend College in Denver. After graduating (which is a feat
that still remains a mystery to this day) Jeff moved back to Hays and
started an 11 year stint in the television world as a news photographer
and production manager for
CBS.
Jeff and lead singer Pat Toepfer met in Kindergarten back in 1972 and even graduated together from Hays High School in 1985 (once again, how that happened remains another mystery.) Then one cold day in December 2006, Pat asked Jeff if he wanted to play in a band with him and the rest of the story is displayed on this page. If he isn't bangin' on the buckets or playing a gig, you'll find him on his obnoxiously loud Harley Davidson Fat Boy. His motto: "Sit down, shut up and throw your head in the wind!"
Kevin Anderson
After hearing the Metallica "Kill Em' All" album, the crunch and face-shredding guitar sound awoke a sleeping beast in his soul. Kevin started hammering out the old standards, then a few lessons from Fulton Calvery and he was off and running. After years of playing he joined the Dusty Rose band and joined with lifelong friend Pat Toepfer. Fast forward to 2006 and Kevin's life was one he never could have predicted. Kevin had a heart transplant on 9/13/06 after an unknown virus attacked and destroyed his original heart. To make things even more intense Kevin was newly married, had a 12 year-old daughter and had adopted his 16 year-old cousin. After a remarkable recovery Kevin started playing with a much more serious attitude. During the time of his transplant Pat T. and Jeff Durall had started a little jam band called Sex Panther and asked Kevin to join. Things quickly took off and morphed into Plan B. I am happy to report Kevin is healthy and enjoying life. His cousin Austin has since moved to Denver to attend college, his Daughter Brooke is getting ready for Junior High, Kevin is finishing his associates degree at BartonCCC then transferring to Ft. Hays to get his B.S. Kevin and his beautiful wife Angie have a little miracle baby, 8 month old Tatum Vai Anderson. Kevin's motto: "If your going through hell....do not stop".
Ronnie Hendershott
Ronnie has been channeling music for more than forty years in his present incarnation, and throughout most of his previous lives as well. His current preoccupation with the bass guitar may, or may not be the result of a continual assault on the ill-perceived entropy of the musical universe; plus it's a cool gig, dude!
Kris Fair
Born in July of 1976 and raised in Syracuse, KS. Kris played Saxophone for 8 years while attending school in Syracuse. His parents also had an old piano that he used to noodle around on once in awhile for fun. He moved to Hays in 1994 and a few years later began working for Patrick Toepfer. Kris has always been a huge fan of all kinds of music and when given the chance to join Plan B, he jumped at the chance.
Chad Speier
Lifelong friend of Pat, they grew up head banging. From that first trip to Van Halen in 1984, when the Motel thought THEY were the band, Chad wanted to play music. The problem is he had no musical talent!! Being a lifelong tweaker of his Kraco EQ, Chad jumped at this opportunity! Chad's motto, "if it's too loud, stop standing by a speaker" Chad is married to his beautiful wife Krista, and has two wonderful daughters, Addison and Macey. Chad often thinks having two girls "someone" is getting even!! As time goes on, Chad is realizing we are just people from the south-wind and merely dust in the wind. Because we are not going to take it, and will fight for our right to party.
